The new year is right around the corner! And after the countdown ends, the ball drops, champagne is toasted, and your partner is smooched, there comes the time to make (and probably announce on social media) your resolutions for the year!
Now, resolutions can be (and often are) associated with weight and exercise goals, monetary and job related aspirations, or even spiritual and ethereal renewal. But what about your marketing habits? Have you been going through the motions for the last few months of 2015? Are you using all of the tools available to you? How do you market yourself?
The new year is the perfect time to reevaluate your marketing habits and focus on new objectives and goals. Here are some new year’s resolutions that have helped us in the past:
- Don’t recycle (posts) this year: In social media it can be easy to dive into the archives and recycle posts from a year prior. But if this trend continues, your audience might notice and see the page (and business) as disingenuous. Make fresh posts all year long, stretch your creative muscles!
- Do some research: The marketing landscape is constantly changing! To make sure you have the best tools at your disposal it is imperative that you research new techniques, programs, and certifications. Consider getting certified in Google AdWords, learning Photoshop or other Creative Cloud apps, or buying a good book on old advertising tactics to see what gems of the Mad Men era you can use today!
- Be a little selfish: It pays to market yourself the way you market your clients. Not only does it exhibit that you have the skills to pay the bills, but it helps get your name in front of new prospects! Start a blog for your business, get on Google AdWords, build a new website, shoot a commercial! Take a little “me time” in the new year!
